A short update on my lawsuit against LINE. LINE filed their third brief, on July 16, 2026, a day after the deadline. The hearing is tomorrow.

In May they would only say they had detected an “abnormal connection”. This time they name three: a connection using a protocol their official app doesn’t use, a connection from an IP address belonging to Amazon’s cloud service, and a connection from a client set to a language other than Japanese, where before that my connections came from Japanese-language clients on a phone.

They also say they keep a list of access conditions they treat as likely signs of abuse, detect those automatically, and suspend accounts when several of them show up together. So a machine froze the account on a combination of signals.

As I wrote previously, I have only ever used official LINE clients on my own devices.

The evidence provided is a copy of a screen from what appears to be LINE’s internal systems. It’s too poor to read in places, and most of the fields are blacked out. My lawyer has asked for a clean copy.
