LINE Lawsuit Update: LINE's Fourth Brief
A short update on my lawsuit against LINE. LINE filed their fourth brief on October 13, 2026.
The court had asked them which words of their terms my conduct falls under. Their answer is a list of clauses: using bots or other technical means to manipulate the service, interfering with it, spam, helping or preparing any of that, and anything else they judge inappropriate. The reason is still the connection I wrote about last time.
The brief also says that the HTTP/SSL protocol was used for the connection, while the the official app uses HTTPS. But HTTPS is just HTTP encrypted with SSL/TLS, so “HTTP/SSL” is another name for the same thing (I guess?). I don’t really understand what distinction they are making.
According to their brief, it doesn’t matter who connected: if it was me, I broke the terms, and if it was someone else, it counts as me anyway, so I did break the terms anyway.
The next hearing is on October 19, 2026.
