LINE Lawsuit Update: Second Hearing
Another update on my lawsuit against LINE. For new readers: in April 2025, LINE suspended my account without explanation and refused to provide any reason for it. The second hearing took place on April 7, 2026.
The court re-organized the issues into three claims:
-
Request to lift the suspension — The central question is (a) whether LINE has a contractual obligation to provide service (i.e., how the terms of service should be interpreted legally), and (b) whether LINE had a legitimate reason to impose the suspension in the first place.
-
Damages for failure to explain — Whether LINE had a duty to explain why they suspended my account.
-
Contract breach damages — Whether LINE failed to fulfill its service obligation under the contract. This largely overlaps with claim 1 above (except for the damages portion).
LINE confirmed that they held internal discussions about lifting the account suspension, but concluded that they are not able to do so at this time.
Going forward, LINE is expected to submit a rebuttal to my first brief by May 8, and to consider whether to disclose which specific rule under their terms of service I allegedly violated.
The outcome is disappointing, but we will continue pressing our case.
The next hearing is on May 12, 2026.
